I founded Personal Care Cremations to serve the families of the Halifax Regional Municipality, Lunenburg, Chester, Mahone Bay, and Hubbards, as well as the surrounding communities, in a compassionate, respectful, and affordable manner. My values are to treat every family with respect and honesty as I provide shelter and care for your loved one on their final journey. My mission is to provide an exceptional level of service to everyone I serve. I believe that every family in Nova Scotia deserves the same level of dignity in their hour of need, and it has been my honour to provide that to the families of the South Shore since 2009.
I received my training at Humber College in Brampton, Ontario in 2007. In 2009, I joined Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home in Lunenburg. I worked alongside Michael Zinck, serving the families in Lunenburg and the surrounding area. Mr. Zinck had the highest standards for compassion, respect, and honesty as well, and I felt very lucky to have the opportunity to learn from him. After his sudden passing in early 2024, I continued to lead the funeral home until I decided to realize my longtime dream of providing the same high level of compassion and care to families in need, in a way that allowed them to still show their loved one all the same deep respect and care one expects from a traditional funeral home, without the associated expenses.
I’m committed to making a positive impact on my community, not only through my profession, but through volunteering. I have a long association with the Riverport Lions, where I currently sit as First Vice President, Fire Commissioner for the area of Feltzen South with the Riverport and District Fire Department, radio host on Community Radio CKVE 88.7 in Hubbards, and for the last few years as a member of the “Tech Crew” managing sound and lighting at Unicorn Theatre, a children’s theatre company located in St. Margaret’s Bay. (If you haven’t been to a show I encourage you to take in one of their professional productions!). My down time is spent doing what I love most, riding my motorcycle.
