In loving memory of
Angus Allan Hallett
The family have chosen this music to commemorate their loved one.
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Angus Allan Hallett, age 75, of Whynott’s Settlement. Angus passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. He passed on the day of his and Donna’s 54th wedding anniversary, a particularly meaningful date for two people who had been together since they were kids.
Born in Lockeport, he was a son of the late John and Agatha (Townsend) Hallett.
He leaves behind his wife and lifelong partner, Donna; his daughters, Krista Townsend (John) and Amanda Weir; and his granddaughter, Maddison—his “favourite”granddaughter, which was easy to claim since she was his only one.
He is also survived by his brothers, Wallace (Irene) of Lockeport and Richard (Caroline) of Shelburne; his sisters, Eleanor Freeman of Bridgewater, Helen (Brud) Goulden of Shelburne, and Jane (Sanford) Hood of Shelburne; his sisters-in-law, Charlotte and Arlene; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Jack, Bob, and Harvey; sister-in-law Louise, brother-in-law Raymond, his niece, Stephanie; and his great-nephew, Jordan.
Angus was a hardworking man who was never afraid to tackle a project. As a young man, while working a full-time job, he built his first home with the help of his father-in-law and his big brother Rich—a home built with hard work, determination, and, as the story goes, a foundation supported by more than a few Keith’s cans. He was happiest when he had something to do, whether that meant puttering around the yard, working at the woodpile, fishing, or heading out on his motorcycle. He especially loved the time spent at their property in New Brunswick, where the camper became a favourite place to relax, enjoy the outdoors, and make memories with family.
Hunting trips were also part of life, although Angus was more likely to be found carrying a wooden spoon than a rifle. He was the cook, not the hunter, and that was just fine with him.
Angus had a goofy side and loved to laugh. He gave the very best hugs and was always ready to sit down for a game of crib. Anyone who played with him knew that a game rarely ended without the familiar words, “Just one more game.”
He was the kind of man who was always ready to lend a hand. His kindness came naturally, and it was one of the reasons he was so well liked by those who had the pleasure of knowing him.
But there was nothing Angus was more proud of than his family. He was a loyal husband, a wonderful father and a very proud grandfather. His girls were his world, the apples of his eye, and there was never any doubt how much he loved them.
Those who loved him would gladly sit down with him for just one more game.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Palliative Care team for the kindness, compassion and care shown to Angus and his family, and to his sister-in-law Merle and brother-in-law James Fevens for their love and support during this time.
In keeping with Angus’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private family graveside service will be held at a later date in Lockeport Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.
Those wishing to honour Angus’s memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice.
