The family of Benjamin “Ben” Jamie Harvey Kempton, 36, of Mill Village, are deeply saddened to share the news of his sudden passing on Thursday, July 9, 2026. Born in Liverpool, he was the cherished son of Darlene Kempton and Shane Cunningham.

Ben was a man of diverse talents and interests. Over the years, he was a dedicated worker, spending several years with Freeman Lumber and most recently working as a landscaper for Gerhardt Property Improvement. His deep love and natural connection with animals truly shone through during the years he owned and operated a local dog daycare.

Always eager to stay well-informed, Ben closely followed current politics and thoroughly enjoyed an intellectual debate. In his down time, he built meaningful connections within the online community. Through his interactions with Russian gamers, he even picked up some of the language and developed a unique appreciation for Russian music. He was also a man of eclectic hobbies, having recently taken up an interest in fencing through a course with the Bridgewater Community Associations.

REFLECTIONS FROM LISA HOWATT: Ben Kempton was a kind-hearted and deeply caring man whose love for his family was evident in everything he did. Ben had a goofy, playful side and a wonderful sense of humour that could make anyone laugh, and his warm heart and genuine compassion left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was a man with many dreams and hopes for the future, always looking ahead to the life he wanted to build and the experiences he hoped to share with those he loved. After 19 years of friendship and partnership, I am grateful for the countless memories, laughter, and good times we shared togeather. I will always remember his smile, his playful teasing, all our drives in his old cavy and trips on the four wheeler. Taking our dogs to the lake and just having fun. Though his life ended far too soon, the love he gave and the memories we created will not be forgotten. He will be deeply missed. Lisa.

Ben leaves behind a family who loved him dearly, including his loving mother, Darlene Kempton, and stepfather, Shane Cunningham; sister, Krystal Kempton of Martins River; stepsister, Ashley Cunningham, Liverpool; and two nephews with whom he shared a very close bond, Stacy Taylor of Fredericton and William Silver of Martins River; as well as several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.

In keeping with Ben’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.

To honour Ben’s lifelong love for animals, his family would greatly appreciate donations made in his memory to the SHAID Tree Animal Shelter.
