With deep sadness, the family of Geraldine Chiasson Skinner, 71, of Mahone Bay, announces her passing on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. Born in Bathurst, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Anatole and Beatrice (Chamberlain) Chiasson.
Geraldine dedicated her life to the service of others, working for many years as a nurse in New Brunswick and ultimately serving as the Head of the Palliative Care Program. Following her retirement, she met David and relocated to Halifax, where they were wed. Together, they shared a deep love of music, performing both individually and as a duo. An accomplished guitarist and bass player, Geraldine will be fondly remembered by many as half of their musical duo, “The Golden Skinners.” She was also a talented crafter who loved to knit and quilt, leaving behind beautiful keepsakes for her family and friends to cherish alongside memories of her larger-than-life smile.
Geraldine is survived by her loving husband, David; her sister, Muriel Chiasson of Bathurst, Seamone Kenneth) Young, Bathurst; her brother-in-law, Lorne Kellie of Nova Scotia; and her beloved Impact Church family in Bridgewater.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Kellie, brothers, Junior, Walter, Vincent, Donald, Leo, Wally and Al.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. at the Impact Church in Bridgewater, with Pastors Bobby and Sheryl Sullivan officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Impact Church would be deeply appreciated by the family.
