The family of Hugh Campbell wishes to announce his sudden passing on May 7th, 2025, at his home in Halifax at the age of 69.

Hugh was born in Campbellton, New Brunswick and grew up in the community of Dalhousie with his late parents Isabella and Thomas Campbell.

After graduating high school, Hugh attended Dalhousie University and earned a Bachelor of Commerce. Soon after graduation, he moved to Toronto and worked for Xerox before returning to Halifax to be closer to his family. Hugh worked in the retail industry until his passing. As a lifelong sports fan, Hugh was especially fond of the Toronto Blue Jays and the Green Bay Packers. He proudly wore his knitted Green Bay Packers socks and closely followed the sporting endeavors of his nephew Ellis.

Hugh had a deep love of music of all genres. Listening to the blues at Bearly’s was a favorite pastime as was attending concerts at Symphony NS and simply being at home enjoying his extensive music collection. Hugh was always ready to share his latest favourite album or performance, especially with his nieces. When not working, watching sports, or listening to music, Hugh enjoyed outings with his buddy Wayne, travelling the province trying new restaurants, visiting wineries, and sipping craft beer.

Hugh is survived by his older brother John (Jean), sister Louise (Wayne), and brother David (Marie), several nieces and nephews as well as a great niece and nephew.

Cremation has taken place with interment to follow at a later date. A public service will not be held. Instead, Hugh’s family will honour his memory privately. Donations in his memory can be made to a charity of your choice.
