John Andrew Heisler

It is with profound sadness that the family of John Andrew Heisler, 77, of Canaan, announces his passing on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at his home. Born in East Chester, John was the son of the late Reuben and Edith (Bond) Heisler.
John dedicated forty-two years of his life as the custodian of the former Chester Municipal High School. Beyond his professional duties, John was a mentor to generations of students during his career. Known for his “sage advice” and genuine concern for the well-being of others, he was touched by the thanks he received from former students and parents for his guidance.
An avid outdoorsman, John found peace on the water fishing, or in the woods hunting for deer and rabbits. When he wasn’t enjoying nature, he could often be found at a card table. He was a master of auction 45’s and cribbage, games he utilized for socializing and sharing laughs with his many friends and family members. He was also an avid fan of NASCAR, with driver Kyle Busch being his favourite.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Lloma (Hiltz) of 52 years; his children, Tammi Heisler (Cannan), Jacklyn (Steven) Saunders (Bridgewater), and John Jr (John John). He also leaves behind his siblings, Richard (Cecile) Heisler (Birchy Head), Sharon Bremner (Chester Commons) and Paula Fleet (East River), as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, David, Michael, Reuben, Una Knock and Joanne Heisler (Lunn).
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at Sherwood Cemetery, 6 Sherwood Road, Chester. Reception to follow at the Little Red School House, 732 Canaan Road, Chester. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services. In lieu of flowers, donations in John’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Little Red School House (Canaan), or Sherwood Cemetery (Sherwood).

I was so sorry to hear the news of Uncle John’s passing. It’s been years since I saw him, but I’ll never forget his larger than life personality and sense of humour. I’m so sorry for your loss.🥀
Dear Lloma and Family,
I’m heartbroken to hear of John’s passing. John was the last of his kind, he was smart, funny and once you got past his gruffness, you found a heart of gold. When John spoke, people listened because they knew he was talking common sense. I don’t think I ever saw a problem that he couldn’t solve. John worked hard but made it look so easy. He had many tricks of the trade and I was very thankful for all that he taught me. We shared many laughs and on occasion, argued like children, which usually ended with him telling me to get off my high horse. lol Whenever I heard John say “listen hear missy”, I knew I was in trouble ! Usually colorful language followed. lol Lloma, the absolute sweetest thing I ever saw was you and John walking up the hallway holding hands one evening and I thought of what a great love you shared. You were both so lucky to have each other. I’ll miss him greatly and my heart and my prayers to his family.
