With a deep sense of loss, the family of Kenneth William Charles Roose, 70, of Halifax, shares the news of his passing on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at the Halifax Hospice, surrounded by the love and presence of his family. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Mildred (White) Roose.

Ken was a man of steady dedication, working across various industries over the years, including nineteen years at the Halifax Shipyards and nineteen years with Cabco. His final position was as a school bus driver, a job that brought him great personal fulfillment and joy. Outside of his professional life, Ken was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing with his friends, and was an avid grocery shopper, always looking for a good deal. He was a proud family man, deeply devoted to his children and especially proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sarah; his son, Travis (Anna) of Eastern Shore; and his daughters, Holly Hopgood and Kara (Tony) Roose of Dartmouth. He was the proud grandfather of Orion, Aurora, Ezra, Lilly, Madison, and Dylan, and the great-grandfather of Charlie and William. He also leaves behind his sisters, Valerie (Bill) Sutherland of River John, NS; Sylvia (Bob) Cleveland of Dartmouth; Charlotte (Scott) Mason of Lawrencetown; and Debbie (Louie) Tsaltas of Cole Harbour. He is further survived by his brothers-in-law, Stu Rogers of Niagara Falls, and Peter and Thomas Keeping of Bridgewater; his sister-in-law, Debbie (Lester) Wah of Bridgewater; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Ken was predeceased by his sisters Barb (Herman) Peterson, Frances (Stuart) Rogers, Sharon (Fred) Boyle and Diane Roose in infancy.

In keeping with Ken’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a Celebration of his Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 152, Spryfield on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 3-6 p.m. A private graveside interment will be held at a later date in Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.
