Madonna Ruth Hall
With a great sense of loss, the family of Madonna Ruth Hall, 77, of Bayport, share the news of her passing on Thursday, May 8, 2025, where she was surrounded by the love of her family at home overlooking the bay.
Born in Riverhead, Harbour Grace, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late John and Irene (Sullivan) Collins.
Madonna cherished family and being around friends. She greeted everyone with a smile on her face and loved to laugh. Her cooking/baking skills were enjoyed by many. Madonna loved the outdoors and her favourite time was spent gardening, walking the Back Harbour Trail, boating or enjoying the view from her home on “The Hill”. She loved and would protect all animals she came across. Madonna had a special place in her heart for Cocker Spaniels and raised four over the years. She loved all kinds of music, dancing and at every opportunity, enjoying life.
Madonna will be forever missed by her husband of 53 years, Greg and sons, Bradley of Dartmouth, Jeffrey of Embro, ON. She also leaves behind her brother Patrick (Shirley) Collins, sisters, Maureen (James) Callahan, Harbour Grace, NL, Regina (Harry) McLean, Georgetown, ON, and sisters-in-law, Kathryn Moreau (Gordie) Riverport, and Jane Hall (Wayne) Lunenburg as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Madonna was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Martin (John) and brother- in- law, Wayne Hall.
In keeping with Madonna’s wishes, cremation has taken place, with an interment to take place at a later date back home in Newfoundland. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made, in Madonna’s memory, to the S.H.A.I.D. Tree Animal shelter or the charity of your choice.

Greg, Brad and Jeff. Our condolences with the passing of Donna. A wife and a mother; and to me a dear friend. Truly a wonderful lady. Kind, compassionate, loving, strong, independent, full of life, laughter and cheer. Donna and Greg mean the world to me. As a “come from away” and new to Nova Scotia colleague of Greg’s and not knowing a lot of people, Donna and Greg soon became dear friends who took interest in, and cared about my well being. Donna loved meeting my mom and Donna quickly became my “east coast” mom keeping an eye on me on behalf of my mom who lived in Alberta. Donna always asked about my well being and her straight forwardness, wisdom and common sense helped guide me many times. I have cherished memories of being invited to share Christmas Day and Christmas dinner(s) with Donna and Greg, which always included favourite foods from her home province of Newfoundland. I grew up with Donna in Riverhead, we went to school together and were best friends. Donna and I moved to St. John’s where we worked and shared accommodations while employed at the Janeway and General Hospital. I am flooded with beautiful and fun filled memories of the years Donna and I spent together. She was such a kind and loving person and loyal friend. Im so sorry to hear this, although our time together was brief from 2003 to 2005, we enjoyed the Hall’s company who became more then neighbours but good friends, Donna always had a smile on her face. My sympathy to Greg and the boys, au revoir Donna, rest easy.

Greg, Brad and Jeff…this is a hard one. Sending my thoughts and prayers to you all. Donna was the glue that kept things together, the sweetest soul and so many times I would laugh at the voice of reason trying to keep Greg in line. I’m so very sorry for your loss, so very grateful I got to spend time with this lovely lady and I am thinking of you during this time of sorrow. The world needs more Donna’s, and that is and will remain her legacy.
