Maurice Arthur Young
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Maurice Arthur Young, of Second Peninsula, announces his passing on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater, at the age of 83.
Born on Hermans Island to the late Raymond and Cecelia (Daniel) Young, Maurice was a lifelong resident of the Lunenburg area. A skilled automotive mechanic, he built lasting friendships throughout the community over the years. Maurice took immense pride in maintaining his home and property in Second Peninsula and was always the first to offer a helping hand to a neighbor. An ardent animal lover, he held a special place in his heart for dogs.
Maurice is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Verna; his sisters, Yvonne (George) Dunn of Texas, Annette Holga of Vancouver, and Irene Sarty and Eileen Whiteside, both of Ontario; along with many nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and no memorial service will be held at this time. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Creations & Memorial Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or the IWK Foundation would be deeply appreciated by the family.

Dear Verna and family;
We are so sorry to hear that Maurice passed away.
He was such an institution within our community . Over the years, he was a huge help to Dad- whenever a piece of equipment or a vehicle would breakdown, Dad would say, “call Maurice” or ” l’m going up to see Maurice”.
Other neighbour’s have mentioned his willingness to lend tools and offer much needed and appreciated advice.
While dealing health issues, the last few years have been difficult for you both but it was always a pleasure driving by your house and seeing you sitting outside ,together , enjoying the sunshine.
