Robert Lawrence Shute

Born in Halifax, Bob was the son of the late Lawrence and Mae (Saunders) Shute.
Bob dedicated his entire career of more than 40 years to the Bank of Montreal, where he built many lifelong friendships. Outside of work, he found joy in the outdoors, especially hunting and tending the gardens at the cottage he and Florence would eventually make their home. Following retirement, they enjoyed life’s simple pleasures together, especially travelling and attending many local bluegrass concerts. After Florence’s passing, Bob found comfort and companionship in his faithful dog, Casey, who became his best friend and constant companion. A true animal lover, Bob was rarely without a few dog treats tucked away in his pocket, always ready to make a new furry friend wherever he went.
Bob will be lovingly remembered by his son, Gary Shute (Darrin Hatt) of Waterloo; his daughter, Kathy (Graham) Madore of Cole Harbour; his cherished grandchildren, Kathleen (Blair) Barry and Taylor Madore (Riley Henman); and his treasured great-grandchildren, Van and Kayo, who knew him as “Pup.” He is also survived by his sister, Donna (Jim Wortman) of Petitcodiac, New Brunswick, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Lawrence and Mae (Saunders) Shute, Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Florence.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. A private interment will be held at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Ridgewood Nursing Home for the love, care, and compassion they showed Bob over the past several years. Your kindness will always be remembered.
In lieu of flowers or charitable donations, the family asks that you honour Bob’s memory by simply picking up the phone and calling a friend or loved one. A simple conversation can be so special and mean more than you know.

A very sad news concerning Bob. I’ve known Bob for many years. We both worked for BMO premises dept., Bob in Halifax and covered the Atlantic provinces with Gran Tate. I was in the Montreal Office. Bob will be remembered for his good humour, an exceptional team member alway ready to give assistance to the bmo branches in the Atlantic provinces.
I have just heard of Bob’s passing, I worked at the Bank of Montreal and always enjoyed many conversations and laughs with Bob, such an easy going pleasant guy. My deepest condolences to his family at this time, May he rest in peace.
I just stumbled on this and sorry to hear about Bob’s passing. We chatted many times while working at BMO. Such a pleasant man, always in a good mood.

I was shocked to hear of Bob’s sudden passing and I am so sorry for your loss.
I will always cherish the good times we had with your family while living in Colby Village. Bob and Florence always welcomed everyone into their home whether it was a visit or just dropping by.
I also enjoyed those cottage visits in Bridgewater, going down to the lake, running through the corn fields and spinning myself silly on the tire swing or laying on the hammock on those hot summer days!
I will also miss our holiday visits with Bob and Florence, as they would always make time for a visit over the years before or, on Bob’s birthday……countless memories over all those years with our families.

Bob always returned the pleasantries with a smile on his face and a gracious hello.
