In loving memory of

Robert Murray Nowe

02/08/1939 - 24/12/2024

The family of Robert Murray Nowe, 85, of Bridgewater, announce his passing on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at Harbour View Haven in Lunenburg after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Robert was born in Hebbville and was a son of the late Murray and Frances (Rhodenizer) Nowe.

Robert enjoyed many vocations over the years from lighthouse keeper, crew with Riverport Steamships, security for Acadia Gas, labourer with Indian Garden Farms to name a few. Many in the Bridgewater area will remember him as a fixture at his friend Ken Joudrey’s garage (Joudrey’s Automotive) in Bridgewater where he was always working behind the scenes and doing any task asked of him. He enjoyed interacting with co-workers and the public alike. He was also a member of the Bridgewater Legion, Branch #24. Robert was a very private man and chose his friends carefully. He also had a deep spirituality which became very apparent when spending more time with him.

He is survived by his children; Gail Nowe-Hiltz (John), New Minas, Donna Marshall (Andrew), Chester, Robert Nowe, Bridgewater, Paulette Veinot (Vance Robar), Lunenburg, Jamie Nowe (Amanda), Ajax, ON; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by brother, Avon and his sisters, Audrey Walfield and Phyllis Floyd.

In keeping with Robert’s wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, May 23 at 10:00 a,m., in Baker’s Settlement Cemetery, Baker’s Settlement.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to The Salvation Army or the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #24, Bridgewater would be appreciated by the family.

  1. I am saddened to hear about Robert’s passing. I always looked forward to seeing Robert and getting him his Wagons West paperbacks. I was lucky to have heard many of his memories while delivering books to him at the hospital. He was a very thoughtful man. He will be missed by many, espicially here at the library. I sure hope heaven is stocked up on butterball turkey weiners!

  2. Rest in peace, Robert! He was a fixture at my brother Kenny’s garage for years, and he seemed to enjoy his time there. My condolences to his family and friends!
