Ronald "Ron" Carl Pierce
Ronald Carl Pierce, 80, of Fox Point, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025, at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax.
Ron was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on March 5, 1945, to the late George Stanley and Edna May (Munn) Pierce. A man of quiet strength and remarkable skill, he was known for his natural aptitude for all things mechanical and electrical, a passion he discovered at a young age. Although he dreamed of becoming a machinist, he became a licensed heavy equipment mechanic, working for companies like Beaver, McAlpine, and Mack Maritime before retiring from Kynock. Beyond his professional career, Ron was a pillar of his community, always ready to lend his talents to family, friends, and local fishermen, fixing what others deemed unfixable. He was legendary for his ability to fabricate parts and tools, a true testament to his inventive mind.
His spirit of adventure extended beyond his workshop. He was a certified scuba diver who helped local tuna fishermen by checking their nets, a dangerous but exhilarating experience he described with vivid detail. He also shared his deep love for the outdoors with his family and close friends through wilderness camping, hiking, and canoeing. His childhood was filled with adventures, and he loved to share stories of his escapades, from swimming in a lake to a youthful encounter with dynamite.
He was a dedicated member of the Fox Point Seventh-day Adventist Church, where his faith was a cornerstone of his life. He served as a deacon and on the church board, taught Bible lessons, and went on mission trips to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic. His belief in Christian education led him to sacrifice for his daughters’ schooling and to help other children do the same. Ron’s faith was a constant source of strength, especially during his battle with bladder cancer, and he loved sharing his relationship with God with others.
He is survived by his former wife, Dorine Janet Wrangell (nee Munroe), and their two daughters, Lorna May (David) Slaunwhite of Mount Uniacke and Janet Ann (Kevin) McKay of Mill Cove. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Rachel (Jonathan) Graça of Lacombe, Alberta, and Jacob (Leah) Slaunwhite of Fox Point; his great-granddaughter, Mira Tessa May Slaunwhite; his brothers, David (Enid) Pierce of Tatamagouche and Roger (Eileen) Pierce of Hubley; his nephews, Marc and Jarod Pierce; and his niece, Jessica Pierce. Ron is also remembered by his Aunt Evelyn Gray (nee Pierce), Uncle Carl Munn, and his close cousin, Judy Pierce.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 from 3-5 p.m. at the Fox Point Seventh-Day Adventist Church fellowship hall, Fox Point. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.
The family requests that donations be made to ADRA Canada, a charity close to Ron’s heart.

We just read Ron’s obituary which was so well said about this amazing man. Our deepest sympathy to all who loved him.
Ron was always so pleased when we hired him to work on our Model A Ford at which time he delighted us with stories of working on his family’s Model A as a youth. What an accomplished and talented man he was! We are sad about his passing and will miss this long-time friend. But, because of Jesus, His life, death and resurrection, we look forward to being together again! BUT AS IT IS WRITTEN, EYE HAS NOT SEEN, NOR EAR HEARD, NEITHER HAS ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN, THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM! 1 Corinthians 2:9.
