In loving memory of

Tony Raymond Hunt

20/06/1966 - 19/06/2025

The family have chosen this music to commemorate their loved one.

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Tony Raymond Hunt, announce his passing on June 19, 2025, at the Halifax Infirmary. Born on June 20, 1966, in Harbour Breton, Newfoundland, Tony was the beloved son of Esther (Roli) Hunt and the late Raymond Hunt.

Tony moved to Lunenburg at the young age of 8. He attended Riverport Elementary and later Centre School, before continuing on to vocational school where he studied Stock Room Control. As a young man, Tony worked various jobs but was eventually forced to stop working due to complications from Type 1 diabetes.

Despite his health challenges, Tony dedicated his time to his community. He volunteered at many local events including Camp Day, boot drives, and even helped on movie sets when productions came to town. However, his deepest passion was the fire service. Tony was a proud and devoted member of the Lunenburg Fire Department for 25 years, following five years of service with the Riverport Fire Department. He was always available for any event from bartending, participating in parades, to handing out treats on Halloween. His favourite times of the year were Fire Prevention Week and activities with the Junior Fire Department.

Tony also enjoyed playing darts, cheering on the Pittsburgh Penguins, following NASCAR’s Dale Earnhardt, and admiring Ford Mustangs. Above all, he cherished time with his family and was happiest at family gatherings. Tony had a generous spirit, a kind heart, and touched the lives of all who knew him.

Tony is survived by his loving partner, Shelly Whynot; his Mom, Esther (Roli) Hunt; his brother, Rocky (Tish) Hunt; nieces, Angalie (Ericka) and Brooke (Caleb); great-nieces, Nora and Ozzie; great-nephews, Finley and Ray; and his beloved fur baby, Angel. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Raymond Hunt; grandparents, Pearl and Edgar Hunt, and Velma and Archibald Osborne; as well as his brother, Archie Hunt, in infancy—and several other cherished family members.

A gathering to celebrate Tony’s life will be held at the Lunenburg Fire Department on June 29, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Please join us in sharing memories and honouring the incredible man he was. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations.

Donations in Tony’s memory can be made to the family.
