Viola Jean Nickerson, 74, of Dartmouth passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2026, at the Halifax Infirmary after a brief illness.

Born in Dartmouth, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Betty (Palmer) Parker.

Jean spent her working career beginning with Moirs Chocolates and continued on as the company transitioned to become Hershey Chocolates, where she worked for approximately thirty-seven years. After a very brief retirement, she went to work with Vanity Fashions of Dartmouth for fifteen years, until her illness forced her to fully retire.

She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Albert, as well several cousins and extended family and close friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Cremation has taken place and there is to be no public memorial service. Arrangements entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services.

A very special thank you to the all the Staff of Vanity Fashions of Dartmouth who held a memorial tribute in celebration of Viola’s time with them, Al was deeply touched by this support.

The family would like to thank all those involved in the care of Viola during her illness. Dr. S. Shivakumar, Dr. N. Forward, Dr. Chowdhury, social worker Mary Hendricks and all the staff of 8A at the Halifax Infirmary. Your professionalism and kindness meant so much to not only Viola but her family as well.
