Wayne Russell Davison

It is with a deep sense of loss that the family of Wayne Russell Davison, 72, of Clearland, announces his passing on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at the South Shore Regional Hospital in Bridgewater. Born in Hantsport, he was the son of the late Laurie Davison, Dorothy (Saunders) Baker, and stepfather William Baker.
Wayne began his working life with a brief stint in the Navy, though he quickly realized military service wasn’t his true calling. Wayne then went on to work at the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic in Lunenburg, where he built traditional Dory boats—some of which even competed in the Gloucester Races. There, his local knowledge and natural ability to connect with people from all walks of life truly shone. He also built his Dory boats from home, but when the high demand made his craft feel more like a job than a labor of love, he closed his shop. He again found his stride at Stelia Aerospace in Lunenburg, beginning in 1990, where his dedication took him all the way through to his retirement. Wayne was a remarkably talented man who could build or fix almost anything. Exceptionally generous, he loved to spoil his family, especially his wife, Judy. While he didn’t have children of his own, he was a devoted uncle who was always eager to help his many nieces and nephews with their school projects over the years. Even during his stay in Hospital in February, he planned a birthday Party for Judy, with 25 people in attendance.
Wayne leaves behind his wife, Judy; his brothers, Jimmy (Eastern Passage), Donald (Mary Jane; Dayspring), Michael (Nan; Back Centre), David (Sylvia; Bridgewater), and Robert (Andrea; Fort St. John, BC); and his sisters, Gwen (Tony) Schnare (BC) and Heather (Craig) Langille (Martins River).
The family extends a very special thank you to close friends Ricky and John, niece Tammy (David), nephew Dwayne (Brenda), great-nephews Brogan (Nikki), and Connor, and to his brother Donald for his invaluable help and support over the last few days.
In keeping with Wayne’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public memorial service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Personal Care Cremations & Memorial Services. For those wishing to honour his memory, donations to the SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or an animal charity of your choice would be deeply appreciated by the family.

My condolences go out to the family at this difficult time. I had the pleasure of working for and with Wayne for many years at Stelia North America.
I was saddened to see that Wayne has passed away. He kind of took me under his wing when I was training @ NSCC to work at Stelia. We shared similar dry humour and sarcasm, lol. If he didn’t like you, he didn’t like you so I felt privileged to be on his good side 😉. We’d (excuse my language, but that’s how he would explain it too) shoot the shit on breaks and out for a smoke. We knew a lot of the same people and had like minded opinions about them, haha. And he knew my dad and my grandfather(as he worked at the museum as well as sailed aboard the Theresa A. Connor in his younger years). They were all blessed with the gift to gab. I’m sure they’re together having the biggest kind of yarn. Very sorry for your loss

I was so sorry to learn of Wayne’s passing when my brother Gary brought me a copy of his obituary. I haven’t seen Wayne for several years but one of my favorite memories of him was a 2-3 hour visit to the Fisheries Museum watching him work. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Judy , we were shocked & sorry to hear Wayne passed away , whenever Sherman spoke about the museum he’d always say Wayne was such a nice guy to work with & they always had a lot to talk about as Sherman built many boats too.
